Join us for a Morning Flight As We Journey with AUS

Journey With AUS is a comprehensive, multi-year airport expansion program focused on meeting the needs of Austin and Central Texas as AUS experiences record-breaking passenger and airline activity levels.

AUS has served the public for more than 20 years, and is considered a major hub airport. Residents and travelers alike have enjoyed Austin Airport in the past for its ease— it was a big-city airport with a ‘small’ feel, one that people could move to and within, without a fuss. As the needs of the area have grown, so have some of the bottlenecks that come with squeezing more out of the same — increased wait times in security, missed connections, long waits for food and drinks, and so on. During the month of October last year 2,040,383 passengers were served and 22.1 million passengers were served last year.

This expansion program is building for the future by pursuing near-term improvements aimed at addressing the immediate need of more capacity for record-breaking passenger growth and building out new facilities and modern infrastructure to support future generations of travelers. We are modernizing Austin’s airport to better serve the needs of our growing and developing city.

As you may have noticed, there are a lot of exciting things happening at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. This past August we broke ground on the West Gate Expansion project to add three gates and 80,000 square feet to the Barbara Jordan Terminal. That project is just the beginning, we have much more in store.

Our airport serves as both the welcome and farewell party to all who live in and visit Austin. We take great pride in our airport and hope to spread that magical essence that makes Austin so special to all who travel through our gates.

About our speaker:

Bryce recently joined the Community Affairs team at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport after working as the Director of Public Relations for the Austin Chamber of Commerce, where he built strong relationships with our business community as the organization's lead  spokesperson while also managing multiple government affairs committees. Prior to that, he held multiple communication roles at the City of Austin, including media relations at City Hall and leading emergency communications at the City’s Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) during much of the COVID-19 pandemic.
